Michelle Nelson with corner men

On April 4th, 2013 the C.P.B.C. was again in Calgary Alberta for the 4th annual Big Brothers and Big Sisters fundraiser. Cannacorp Genuity organized and hosted the fundraiser part of the event while Impact Boxing Promotions organized and hosted the boxing show. What a show it was - two C.P.B.C. titles were on the line to a completly sold out crowd!

The first one, the co-main event, was the C.P.B.C. women's bantamweight title, with Peggy Maerz of Salmon Arms BC taking on Michelle Nelson of Saskatoon SK. The fight started off in favour of Peggy Maerz but Michelle Nelson quickly turned it around and won the title with a unanamous decision. She becomes the new C.P.B.C. woman's bantamweight champion.

C.P.B.C. Heavyweight champ Eric Martel

The main event of the night saw C.P.B.C. heavyweight champion Raymond Olubuwale defend his title for the second time against Eric Martel of Quebec City in a rematch. The fight started off with both fighters boxing well and as usual both fighters knocked each other down, but in the sixth round Martel had Olubuwale in trouble and didn't let off. Referee Len Koivisto waved it off in the sixth round giving Eric Martel the win. He becomes the new C.P.B.C. heavyweight champion.

Hats off to Impact Boxing Promotions’ Louis and Diana Raposo for putting on yet another fantastic show and special thanks also to the Calgary Boxing Commission for their fine work and hospitality.
